Maria Omaira, Washed Gesha
Summary
Maria Omaira is a producer from the community of Cusillo Bajo in La Unión, Nariño, Colombia with over 45 years of experience. This washed Gesha coffee comes from her one-hectare farm located at 1,800-1,914 meters above sea level, where she cultivates Gesha under the shade of fruit trees. The coffee was won at auction through the "La Mejor Taza" competition in Pasto, Nariño, in collaboration with Carnival Coffee Roasters. Processing involves handpicking at peak ripeness, flotation sorting, 24-hour pre-fermentation in cherry, de-pulping, 24 hours of mucilage fermentation, thorough washing, and slow drying on raised beds for 15-30 days. The cup profile is clean and complex with notes of wild strawberry, orange blossom, and stone fruits.
