Kii Kirinyaga Ab
Summary
Coffee from the Kii Factory, one of three mills of the Rung'eto Farmers Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga, Kenya, at the foot of Mount Kenya. Built in 1995 and named after the nearby Kii River, the factory receives ripe cherry from 850 smallholders farming less than a hectare each. Volcanic soils, mountain stream water and high elevation support arabica cultivation, and clean river water is used throughout the washing process. The blend combines Batian, SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11; the SL selections bring complex fruit and bright acidity, while Ruiru 11 and Batian add body and consistency. Fully washed processing keeps the cup clean and transparent. Notes of rhubarb, currant and caramel.
