Chuck's Roast is a San Diego roaster with serious lineage — it's run by Chuck Patton, who founded Bird Rock Coffee Roasters and picked up a Micro-Roaster of the Year title along the way, so there's 20-plus years of know-how behind it. The style is small-batch and deliberately delicate: ethically sourced single origins (recent Colombians like Pink Bourbon and a Yellow Pacamara natural) roasted lightly to let them shine, released in limited runs. No café, but they ship nationwide and run tasting and roasting classes. A quietly excellent pick if you want expressive, top-scoring single origin specialty coffee from a genuine veteran of the craft.
