Gatare
Summary
Gatare is a washed coffee from the Nyamasheke District in Rwanda, produced by Gatare Producers and processed at the Mahembe washing station owned by Justin Musabyimana. Grown at 1700-1900m altitude, it features Red Bourbon variety. Smallholder farmers deliver cherries for processing. The washed process involves removing skin and pulp, dry fermentation for 10-12 hours, grading, soaking for 16 hours, and drying on African beds for up to 21 days. Expect a fresh, clean profile with notes of blackcurrant, grape, citrus, and black tea, with well-balanced sweetness and acidity. Suited for filter brewing.
