Colombia: La Esperanza
Summary
This coffee comes from the Huila region of Colombia, produced by the Coocentral cooperative, a farmer-owned organization of over 3,400 small-scale growers. The beans are grown at altitudes between 1,700 and 2,000 meters above sea level, where varieties such as Caturra, Castillo, and Colombia thrive in volcanic soils. The coffee is fully washed, with cherries hand-picked and fermented for 24-36 hours before drying on covered beds. It offers a flavor profile reminiscent of raspberry candy and red apples with notes of brown sugar, and a silky, creamy mouthfeel. The cooperative invests in community programs, including scholarships and healthcare, supporting sustainable farming and a better future for its members.
