Franky Hoyos - Gesha Tropical
Summary
Franky Stiven Hoyos is a third-generation farmer from Pitalito, Huila, Colombia, overseeing the family farm El Encanto at 1650 MASL. This Gesha coffee undergoes an advanced washed process: whole cherries are floated, given a 38-hour oxidative fermentation, rinsed, sanitized and pulped, then warmed in open 210-liter tanks for 6 hours before a thermal shock protocol. The parchment is inoculated with orange extract and red fruit yeast, fermented submerged for another 38 hours, rinsed, sun-dried for 12 hours and finished in mechanical dryers for 28 hours. The cup is expressive and tropical with notes of guava, mango, orange creamsicle and pink bubblegum.
