Karumandi Aa
Summary
Karumandi AA is a Kenyan coffee from the Karumandi washing station in Kirinyaga, part of the Baragwi Farmers' Cooperative Society, established in 1961 on the fertile volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya. Grown by smallholder farmers at around 1600-1700 masl, mainly the classic Kenyan varieties SL28 and SL34 alongside Ruiru 11 and Batian. Cherries are hand-picked and sorted, pulped and graded by density, fermented for 16-24 hours, washed and re-sorted, then soaked in clean water for 16-18 hours and slowly dried on raised African beds for up to three weeks. Cup profile: raspberry, blackcurrant, grape, plum, structured and juicy.
