El Salvador: Finca San José, Red Bourbon
Summary
A washed Red Bourbon coffee from Finca San José in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range, El Salvador. Produced by fourth-generation coffee grower Gloria Rodríguez, this coffee is grown at 1,500 meters above sea level on the slopes of an extinct volcanic crater with rich clay loam soil and shade from native trees. The coffee undergoes a washed processing method and is roasted to a medium level, bringing out notes of milk chocolate, biscuit, and marshmallow with a creamy, full-bodied mouthfeel. The farm uses traditional Salvadoran techniques including agobio. Scored 87/100 at cupping.
