Tembo – Kenia
Summary
Tembo is a Kenyan specialty coffee from Bungoma County, grown by smallholder producers around the Chesikaki Factory on the slopes of Mount Elgon, near the Ugandan border. Cultivated at 1,700–1,950 m on volcanic soils from Batian, Ruiru 11 and SL28 varieties, the cherries are hand-selected and fermented for 16–24 hours before washing and slow sun-drying. The cup is extremely sweet with stone fruit and lychee notes, a lightly citric acidity and a medium, juicy body. Roasted for filter.
