Summary

The Shale washing station, located near Worka in the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia, collects cherries from 1,500 smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee using organic, intercropping methods on plots under one hectare. Owned by Haileslassie Ambaye, a pioneer in Ethiopian specialty coffee, the station provides interest-free financing and agronomic training to support farmers. The coffee is processed using the washed method. It offers tasting notes of sweet, apricot, tea, lemon, floral, and a hint of pineapple. Recommended for filter preparation.
