Summary
Mtaro Estate is located in Kiambu County's Juja district, 40 km from Nairobi, at 1600m altitude on the slopes of the Aberdare mountain range. The 200-hectare coffee plantation is owned by Coffee Management Services Ltd (CMS), which processes and sells about 25% of Kenya's annual crop. The estate holds UTZ, 4C, CAFÉ Practices, and Rainforest Alliance certifications. Coffee bushes are replaced every five years for optimal productivity. The coffee is washed with spontaneous fermentation. Varieties include SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, K7, and Batian. Tasting notes: blackcurrant, blood orange, green tea. Recommended for filter brewing.
