Kamwangi
Summary
The Kamwangi coffee is produced by the New Ngariama Cooperative Society in the Kirinyaga region of Kenya, at 1600 meters elevation. The cooperative has operated the Kamwangi washing station since 1997, serving approximately 1000 smallholder farmers who deliver their coffee cherries during harvest. Varieties include SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, K7, and Batian. The coffee undergoes washed processing with spontaneous fermentation, where yeasts and bacteria break down the mucilage layer, followed by washing and 9–13 days of drying. Flavour notes include blackcurrant, grapefruit, and mandarin. Recommended for filter brewing.
