Rama Dufatanemunda, We Must Stand Together
Summary
This Natural Red Bourbon coffee from the Rama Dufatanemunda women's empowerment group in Ngozi Province, Burundi, is grown by over 120 female producers at 1,700 meters above sea level. The coffee is naturally processed and offers tasting notes of guava candy, strawberry lemonade, hibiscus, and almond brittle. The group, organized by Marie-Annonciate and supported by the Kahawatu Foundation and Greenco, fought for land access and implemented Good Agricultural Practices, increasing yields from 0.7kg to nearly 2kg per tree. Cherries are selectively handpicked, sorted, and slowly dried on raised beds for 3-4 weeks.
