Gitesi W.
Summary
Gitesi is a privately owned washing station in Nyamasheke district, Western Province, Rwanda, run by father and son Alexis and Aime Gahizi since 2005. Around 1800 smallholder farmers deliver their coffee cherries to Gitesi. The Red Bourbon variety is processed using the washed method: depulped, dry fermented for 10-12 hours, sorted in washing channels, soaked in clean water for 16 hours, then dried on shaded pre-drying tables and African beds for about 15 days. Flavour notes include rosehip, black tea and lime.
