Summary

Kenya Giakanja AA is a washed filter coffee from the Giakanja Washing Station in Nyeri County, Kenya, established in 1968. Smallholder farmers grow traditional SL28 and SL34 varieties at 1,700–1,800 MASL between the southern slopes of Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare Range. Cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness, sorted and floated, pulped in the evening, then given a 20-hour dry fermentation followed by washing and a further 24–26 hours in tanks before drying on raised beds to 10% moisture. The cup is fruity and complex with high acidity and high sweetness, with flavours of dried cranberry, pinot noir and molasses.
