Gichathaini - Kenya
Summary
Gichathaini comes from the Gichathaini Factory in the Mathira District, Nyeri County, Kenya, where over 900 farmers cultivate coffee on deep red volcanic soils at 1,700–1,800 meters. The coffee is washed with water from the Ragati River and carefully sorted. Varieties SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 and Batian. Filter roast shows redcurrant and vanilla; as espresso it displays plum and date with concentrated fruit, delicate acidity and balanced sweetness. Coffees from Nyeri are prized for clarity, delicate acidity and complex aromatics.
