Kenya Mugaya
Summary
Kenyan single-origin coffee from the Mugaya washing station in the Kirinyaga highlands, at the foot of Mount Kenya, part of the Mutira Farmers' Cooperative Society. Around 1,700 smallholders farming roughly 0.1 hectares each deliver cherries grown in volcanic soil at 1,700-1,800 m. Varieties SL 28, SL 34 and Batian, washed with water from the Rwamuthambi River, pulped and dry-fermented 24 hours, soaked 6 hours and dried on raised beds. Roasted light, it opens with bright lemon, jammy blackcurrant, ripe plum and a creamy vanilla sweetness with a long clean finish.
