Uganda Zebigi
Summary
Uganda Zebigi is a specialty microlot from the village of Zebigi, located atop a table mountain above the processing station at around 2000 m.a.s.l. in the Mt. Elgon region of eastern Uganda. The coffee was produced by 307 smallholder farmers, each contributing on average 165 kg of freshly harvested cherries. After picking, the cherries are pulped and undergo a 40-hour dry fermentation, finished with a thorough wash in cold mountain spring water, then dried on African drying beds in solar dryers. The project is run by The Coffee Gardens, which supports farmer incomes, gender equality, environmental protection and supply chain transparency. Cup profile: orange peel, walnuts and chocolate, full, juicy yet fresh.
