Coffea Diversa Excelsa
Summary
A rare pure lot of Excelsa, an uncommon coffee species, grown at Coffea Diversa in the Biolley district of southern Costa Rica at 1250-1380 masl. Founded by Gonzalo Hernandez, Coffea Diversa is a living archive of coffee biodiversity. This naturally processed Excelsa is sun-dried on raised beds and medium roasted, giving a full-bodied, smooth cup with remarkably low bitterness. Notes of cocoa, peanut and spice are joined by dried fig, prune, brown sugar, toffee, tropical fruit and florals, finishing clean with toasted star anise.
