Kigezy, Uganda
Summary
Specialty coffee from the Kigezi Valley in southwestern Uganda, grown by over 300 smallholder farmers within the Mountain Harvest network, with Kigezi Valley Coffee joining in 2023. Grown at around 2200 masl, the Nyasaland variety is processed as an anaerobic natural: ripe red cherries are sealed in drums for a 72-hour dry fermentation, then dried on raised beds for 2-3 days in direct sun and finished in shade to 10.5% moisture before curing in Mbale. Expect raspberry, cacao nibs and vanilla. Recommended for espresso and filter.
