Santa Teresa
Summary
Andrés Torres Goicochea grows Gesha variety at the 7-hectare Santa Teresa plantation in Lonya Grande district, Utcubamba province, Amazonas region, northern Peru at 1600-1700 meters elevation. The coffee undergoes natural processing with spontaneous fermentation. Flavor notes include apricot, strawberry, and jasmine. The area's coffee cultivation history is relatively recent, beginning in the second half of the 20th century when the Peruvian government encouraged settlement of the eastern Andes slopes. The high altitude, diverse microclimates, and traditional processing methods contribute to the region's growing coffee reputation. Andrés has achieved notable success in competitions, including a top 10 Cup of Excellence result in 2021. This coffee is intended for filter brewing.
