Mutheru is a washed Kenyan coffee from Mutheru Factory, located in Murang'a, Central Region on the slopes of the Aberdare Ranges. Produced by the Kariua Farmers Cooperative Society, the coffee is grown at 1,750-1,850 masl by over 500 smallholder farmers. The lot comprises Batian, Ruiru 11, SL28, and SL34 varieties. The fully washed processing involves selective hand-harvesting, 12-24 hour fermentation, grading channels, and 24-hour soaking, followed by drying on raised beds for 7-21 days. The sensory profile features red currant, yellow plum, and light caramel.
