Mutitu, Kenya
Summary
A washed Kenyan coffee from Mutitu Washing Station in Kirinyaga, in the volcanic highlands of Mount Kenya. The station belongs to Mutira Cooperative and works with about 800 smallholder farmers. The lot is over 90% SL28 and SL34, with the remainder Batian and Ruiru 11. After pulping, the coffee undergoes a 24-hour dry fermentation, is washed with clean mountain water, soaked for 6 hours, and slowly sun-dried on raised beds. The cup is defined and expressive, with raspberry's lively juicy acidity, ripe peach, soft honey sweetness, and orange peel in the finish with subtle bitterness.
