Summary

Colombia, Ethiopia and Honduras · mostly washed and natural lots

Subtext is a specialty coffee microroaster based in Toronto, Canada, slinging small-batch single-origin beans with serious intention. Their lineup spans filter, espresso, and reserve categories, rotating through Colombian naturals, washed Mexicans, and the occasional low-caffeine Laurina. They're refreshingly transparent—annual reports lay out exactly what they paid producers. Subtext runs their own roastery and café at their Cawthra Avenue spot, and they host monthly cuppings and rotating classes for anyone who wants to geek out a little deeper. They ship across Canada, the US, the UK, and Europe. Thoughtfully sourced, micro-batch, and refreshingly open about the whole thing.
