28 Twenty Eight

Twenty Eight is the specialty roastery of Hernyák Gábor — the guy who won Hungary's 2019 Brewers Cup — so there's serious cupping pedigree behind the beans. It's a small, hands-on operation: coffees are roasted in small batches, each given its own profile to bring out what makes that origin tick, and offered for both espresso and filter. Expect single origin lots picked for flavour rather than familiarity. Based in Hungary and sold mostly direct, it's a good shout if you want thoughtfully roasted specialty coffee beans from someone who's competed at the top and roasts like it.
