Kenya Kii
Summary
Kenya Kii is a fully washed coffee from the Kii Factory, one of three washing stations owned and operated by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) in Kenya. The cooperative has over 850 members, many of whom deliver their coffee cherries to Kii. The washing station, built in 1995, sits at the foot of Mount Kenya and uses water from the nearby Kii River for processing. The coffee is selectively hand-picked, depulped, fermented for 16-24 hours, washed, soaked for 12 hours, and dried on raised beds for about 14 days. It is classified as AB, with beans between screen sizes 15 and 18. The cup is juicy with good acidity and a distinct fruity character, reminiscent of blackcurrant and blood orange.
