Tangwen, Anaerobic
Summary
From eastern Uganda near Sipi Falls, 419 smallholders from the Tangwen Farmers Group grow SL14 and SL28 coffee varieties at 1900 meters. The coffee undergoes a natural anaerobic process: ripe cherries are picked and sealed in tanks, fermenting for 60 hours in an anaerobic environment before being dried on raised beds. This results in vibrant flavours of zesty blood orange, juicy stonefruit (peach) and strawberry. Profits from this coffee drive important social impact initiatives in the farming community.
