Coffee By Design has been a fixture of Portland, Maine since 1994, when Mary Allen Lindemann started it on a struggling Congress Street as a 'community coffee company.' Three decades on, that inclusive, buzzy-hub spirit still defines it — a coffeehouse and roastery where everyone's welcome, backed by direct farm partnerships and a Rebel Blend Fund that supports local artists. The coffee spans rotating single origins (recent Rwandans and Indian estate lots) and blends, including honey and natural processes. Available across Maine and online.
