Founded by longtime friends Robert Myers and Rich Avella, they call their approach "approachable excellence"—balanced, welcoming coffee that ranges from bright single origins to chocolatey darker roasts. They roast seasonally fresh beans, and their house blends like The Core, Shadow Play, and Tightrope are designed to hit different spots, from espresso to lighter, fruit-forward cups. They also run a tea arm, 4 Track Tea. With cafes scattered across Alameda, Oakland, Albany, and Walnut Creek, Highwire feels like a local's favorite that happens to ship nationwide.
